Editorial Policy & Corrections
This page explains how Singapore Public Holidays (holidayssg.com) decides what to publish, how every date is checked, how often pages are updated, and what happens when we get something wrong. Last reviewed: 4 November 2026.
Who writes and checks the content
All holiday and school-term pages are written and verified by Mudassar Nazar, the site’s founder and editor. There is no guest or sponsored content. We do not accept payment to list, rank or recommend anything.
Where the dates come from
We only publish a public holiday date once it appears in an official Singapore government source. In order of priority:
- Ministry of Manpower (MOM) – the gazetted list of public holidays and the annual press release (usually published in June for the following year).
- Singapore Government Gazette – the legal notice under the Holidays Act.
- Ministry of Education (MOE) – school terms and school holidays (usually published in July or August).
- Polytechnic and ITE academic calendars – taken from each institution’s official website.
- Dates for a year that has not yet been gazetted (for example 2028) are clearly labelled estimated, with the method explained on the page.
How a page is verified before it goes live
- Every date, day of week and holiday-in-lieu Monday is compared line by line with the MOM or MOE source.
- Pay and leave rules are checked against the Employment Act text on Singapore Statutes Online and MOM’s guidance.
- Each page shows a “last updated” date. The downloadable PDF and .ics calendar files are regenerated whenever a date changes.
- Cultural and religious background information is checked against the organising body (for example MUIS, the Hindu Endowments Board or the Buddhist Fellowship) or Roots.gov.sg.
How often pages are updated
- Same day when MOM or MOE publishes a new gazette or press release.
- Six weeks before each public holiday – the holiday’s page is re-read, dates re-confirmed and practical details (what is open, light-ups, closures) refreshed.
- Quarterly – every page is re-checked for broken links and outdated wording.
